Goji  –  The Tasty Superfood

If they HANG like your boys ~ they’re probably GOOD for your boys !!

Goji berry also known as wolfberries , belong to the family called Solanaceae . They  are among the richest sources of nutrients containing over 18 different types of amino acids and vitamins.  Goji  also contain more Beta Carotene than carrots and are also one of the best sources of vitamin C, and  rich in minerals such as iron, zinc, calcium, and phosphorus – making them a ‘superfood’ antioxidant.

Legend has it that the berries were discovered by Buddhist monks hundreds of years ago in the Tibetan mountains. What surprised them was that the monks who ate the berries outlived the other monks. But that was history.

According to a study in the Chinese Journal of Oncology, patients with cancer showed positive results after they started a new diet plan containing these red berries. Numerous studies have also concluded  that the antioxidants contained in goji extracts prevents the growth of cancer cells in the body. Other positive results in cancer patients include reduction of blood glucose levels and cholesterol levels.

BENEFITS

Boosts Human Growth Hormone(HGH) Production:
Human growth hormone production decreases as a person ages. A seventy-year old only has one tenth the HGH production as a 20-year old. This in turn also lowers energy levels and stores body fat. Goji berries boosts production of human growth hormone. This is mainly possible because the berries are a rich source of potassium –a lack of which interferes with the pituitary gland that is responsible for HGH production.

HGH production is also affected by the amino acids l-glutamine and l-arginine which Goji are rich in. Increased hormone levels from consumption of these berries also greatly affects your skin and helps you look more youthful. The fatty acids in the berries stimulate the production of collagen which helps in maintaining younger-looking supple skin.
